Boxers Rescues - Description

Boxers have a distinctively strong body build with powerful neck, straight front legs, deep and roomy chest and dark eyes. Their upper jaw is shorter than the lower one, and this adds a tough streak to their general appearance. The movement of muscles and proud stance give the dog a highly noble and statuesque look.

Height: Dogs - 22-25 inches (at the withers); bitches - 20-23 inches
Weight: Dogs - 60-70 pounds; bitches - 55-65 pounds

Boxers have a short coat, which is easy to groom. They occur in Fawn and Brindle, often featuring white markings. The Fawn may range from a light tan to a dark, almost red color. The Brindle can feature either clear narrow stripes against the fawn background or dark tiger stripes; the Fawn appearing barely observable between thick tiger stripes.

Boxers Rescues - Behavior

If you are looking for a pet who could keep you smiling all day long, the Boxer is the right choice for you. These dogs are extremely playful, boisterous, and they carry this hilarity from puppyhood through to their senior years. When playing or fighting, they use their front paws, which actually gave them their current name.

Boxers require several hours of daily exercise, which will help control their high energy level. They have a way of jumping at people, and it is an undesirable trait of behavior, and needs eliminated through patient and consecutive training. When excited, Boxers can perform various funny tricks, like circling their bodies in a kidney-shaped figure, jumping and even somersaulting.

Boxers are very good with children, and they even have the ability to control their activity when playing with them. However, in this case careful supervision is required in order to avoid accidental traumas. Boxers are protective around their families, and care is necessary to avoid unpleasant incidents with your dogs and guests.

Boxers are domination-seeking creatures, and you, under no circumstances, should allow them to get the better of yourself in terms of who is the master. On some occasions, Boxers can display stubbornness, which needs correction with patience and without excessive toughness.
